I am in the process of migrating to a MacBook and am having some problems when it comes to connecting to VM using Mac OSX.

If I use my wife's Nokia 6230 I can connect via Bluetooth to the MTN service but I think I just got lucky because I am actually clueless when it comes to setting up anything to do with networks. I tried doing it with my Nokia N80 and I keep getting some sort of RF channel error  .

I normally use my VM sim in the N80 (as I am doing now) to connect to the internet using Nokia's PC suite. Is there a dummy's guide on how I might be able to do this on a Mac (where I have no PC Suite)?

Many, many TIA!

If the 6230 works with MTN you just have to change the dialup string to use the Virgin settings. It should be something like *99***1# Then just replace the 1 with the number corresponding to your VM settings. There should be a list of setting in the phone so if the settings are third on the list change it to 3 etc.

Thanks, I will give that a try, but since my last post I have managed to connect the MTN sim via the N80 (which I couldn't do before).

I think the problems have more to do with the way the MacBook settings are configured than anything else.

Scripts

Hi

I have a powerbook but I think this should work the same. goto www.taniwha.org.uk and download the modem script for your make of phone. Experiment with the different speed scripts(altho VM is only GPRS/edge, soon to be 3g apparently  ). Instructions on how to use and insert these files are in the readme. If you have a problem pm me.

cheers
