Popped into the VodaShop today and kind tech guy was good enough to burn me a CD with the latest version of this software.

Did an install on the DELL D830 and pretty happy. Better than the bundled DELL Connection Manager -- BUT -- still NO MMS and email ? It is also not the prettiest or most professional looking software IMHO. Just takes info strings from MS in the backgound and repackages them. Lazy mans way !

Still from now on looks like it's goodbye DELLicious and EHLO VODAphloe

Here is the killer app -- WHERE is the person building it ? Maybe just needs some stuff bolted onto MS Outlook -- or a look alike clone.

PS ; Anyone know how to get hold of the Senior Technical manager at DELL SA ? Still working on the broadband Novatel GPS story. Anyone know much about WAAS ? I am beginning to think that the GPS & SATELLITE is a bit of a con. I think that the DELL GPS is actually terrestrial (with the kind help of their towers and Intelligent backbone?)

Anyone know how this actually works ?

I am really waiting to crack open a nice ice cold frostie -- but I am waiting for somone to really tell me something I need to know :D ( Like explaining to me that I need to connect with IMAP and NOT POP3. What does it actually say on the site  ) pop3.vodamail.co.za / or imap4.vodamail.co.za ( SAME Server :) -- Different PORTS )

Vmc-9 A-gps

Looks like I spoke too soon -- VMC is OFF again -- no real support for embedded devices -- wants USB -- My machine wants SERIAL....so sorry:D

CELLULAR GPS -- aahh yes WAAS and all that

Assisted GPS ..... A-GPS (AGPS) and eGPS. Look it up -- quite interesting -- as is E911 and E112

"Slowly , bit by bit , he assembled the pieces. Not sure what he would find , when the outlines of the puzzle would start to take shape. But he knew that the journey had begun and there was no way of turning back now" :D

I am still having to think about drinking alone , alone .........alone :D

( Is there nobody interested in this stuff  )

Exploding Software & Pie in your face -- from the Explosion

For the solution to all your Intranet Exploder problems, Click here...

Sorry but IMHO seem to think that all that that does is push MSIE into the background -- rather than get rid of it  All it's nefarious components still work in the background even if you do NOT use them.

If you REALLY want to get rid of it you need to do a special "slipstream" compilation and install of of that.

Have a look at Fred Vorck and HFSLIP or NLITE and LITEPC -- and maybe others that allow the unbundling of MSIE.

Ginggs Application

Engrish ?

Told you,use Gings`s application..

YES thank you -- BUT -- does it support embedded devices ? specifically the NOVATEL PCI Express Mini cards ? Which stipulate a connection to a legacy Serial Port Three ( or Four ) but are enumerated in the registry under USB - VERY strange

I did point out to GINGS that Novatel have an SDK and development hardware kit -- shown on a webpage on their site -- very interesting stuff too.

Here is some more stuff on WWAN mini cards and GPS

DELL & NOVATEL & GPS

As always -- at the mercy of the Techno-Illuminati -- the TECHNORATI

@MidnightWizard, I'm not quite sure what you're on about, but since you chose the thread title "Vmc 9", I suggest you [thread=108302]click here...[/thread]

PS: install Linux if you really want to get rid of Intranet Exploder completely as per your post:

No support for Novatel devices as yet.

Modems generally are serial devices, so would get assigned a COM port.
PCI Express Mini and ExpressCard interfaces contain a PCI Express 1x connection and a USB 2.0 connection. High speed cards like FireWire 1394B and Gigabit Ethernet cards use the PCI Express 1x connection, but low speed devices like 3G/HSDPA cards use the USB 2.0 connection.

You did?

After some extensive searching through MidnightWizard's posts, it seems a link-less message was left for you in the ether of the General Hardware & Software forum:
This is for GINGGS

NOVATEL have an SDK on their website

Also have a look at WebToGo aus Deutschland aus very interesting stuff there.

Hey, nice tip ... enabled in registry & rebooted (on Dell 630C with Vista SP1) ... viola working GPS. Never knew the Dell 5520/Novatel UX870 had a GPS receiver on it.
LOL, when I originally moused over the link in MidnightWizard's post, and saw sarcasm in the url, I thought MidnightWizard was being sarcastic with that link, but I was wrong, nice piece of info there MidnightWizard :).
