VMWare Fusion and iCloud

Hi all
I have to put Windows on my Mac and for my use case which is very occasional light work, VMware Fusion seams to be the way to go, dual booting with Bootcamp will be overkill.

With iCloud syncing my documents folder across devices, if the VM is stored in my documents folder, would I be able to run it on my iMac and MBP? Obviously not at the same time.

P.S. Does iCloud only sync between devices over the internet, or can it also sync over a local network from computer to computer where possible?

iCloud syncs over the internet. So having a couple gigs sized VM image upload and download every time you touch it isn't going to be fun unless you have a gigabit fiber connection.

dual booting with Bootcamp will be overkill.

Bootcamp is free though, so why is using it an overkill ? Don't you just switch to which ever OS you want on startup?

Yes but I need to be able to instantly jump between the 2 with apps still open, so restarting and booting in to the other OS isn't practical.
