Hi guys,

Recently deployed a small 2 host Vmware ESX 4 Update 1 cluster. Please note we are using essentials plus, so no vmotion or DRS

host 1 = vmh01
host 2 = vmh02

cluster has been HA enabled.

We have install a virtual vcenter on vmh01.

What would happen if vmh01 was to crash, obviously vcenter would go down as the guest is on vmh01. But in this situation would the HA function be able to power up the vcenter server on vmh02? or would the cluster just fall over as it loses all configs when vcenter went down?

I would like to test this but if someone can answer it without me dropping the site just to get an answer would be great.

Anyhoe looking forward to hearing your responses and guys please although there are many other virtual technologies out there please keep the responses related to the question at hand ;)

Cheers

Ok well, if vmh01 falls over, the vcenter server does not automatically boot up.

I had to manually import the virtual machines from the datastore to vmh02 and power them up.
