Hi folks...

what a challenge! trying to run SlackWare 11 on VMware 5.5.3... I've installed VMware on XP and created a linux VM which occupied 8G on my C drive. I'm stuck on my next step my which is "grabbing the iso files". My virtual machine has few virtual devices: Memory(256), HDD (SCSI 0:0), CD-ROM(IDE 1:0), floppy, ethernet, etc..

My question:
1. I have three iso (d1,d2,d3) files for slackware 11 which i copied to my HDD from my bonus linux DVD. But they are all install iso's. Are these the correct files for VM?
2. When i click edit VM to add these files, the option "use ISO image" is only on the CD-ROM not the HDD. Says HDD already occupied by another device (what exactely?). Can VM run Slackware from Virtual CD-ROM

that's all for now!

You can't mount the ISO as a hard-drive. You have to install the contents of the ISOs from a CD-Drive to the virtual hard-drive.

Just as he said ;)

Edit virtual machine settings -> Add hardware -> Add cdrom -> Use Iso Image

Did exactly that with no avail. BTW, i first tried installing this on dual boot. I burned all three ISO files to three discs. Inserted disc1 for boot, change BIOS to start with CD but did not boot. So VM was the second attempt with now loading from a Virtual Disc (as instructed above), again no winning!
