Hi,

I use vnstat to track my Neotel usage on an Arch Linux box.
Recentely I discovered that vnstat reports about 3GB more
than what neotel charges me for. I was wondering if anyone
else is experiencing this?

I have vnstat tracking eth1. The box functions as a gateway
with another network card (eth0) connected to the rest of
the network. Is there a possibility that data is traveling over
eth1 to the router or something, but not actually out to the net?

I would appreciate any comments/help. Thx.

I also used to use vnstat and can remember that Neotel always recorded lower usage than vnstat...

Always accepted it as vnstat being more accurate than Neotel ;-)

Didn't really wonder about it since usage recorded was always lower than expected... if it was the other way around it would be a different story :D

Lol yeah. It's great that it's less, I just like to know what's going on.
I will be checking it for a few months to see if it stabilizes around
a certain amount, so I can use what I'm paying for.

Interesting. My discrepency was almost 3GiB as I mentioned,
which is a rather large amount. Will keep on eye on it by
checking in with them every week. I was told their system
only updates once a week?! What a load of ****. It has to
keep track of data the whole time. I really wonder if that
excuse and not having an online usage check site is their
way of getting more out of their customers. Well, I certainly
feel it is as to implement it (seeing as they obviously already
have the stats in a db) isn't that big a job.
