I'm experiencing continuous airtime diminishing/decreasing each day. It's not like loosing all at once but everyday few rands or cents. Vodacom customer care really useless.

Because this is really fck ing nonsense

Just have a look if you are subscribed to any services. Google will tell you the USSD code.

Same issue, here. Losing R8.00 per day on the wife's phone (Pay-as-you-go).

On her My Vodacom app:
No VAS
No subscriptions
No data usage
No content services

She only connects via Wifi (at work & Home) and only uses Whatsapp for making calls.

Yet. :mad: :mad: :mad:

She'll be paying their walk-in store a visit this afternoon.

Sorry what was the outcome?

The local walk-in store couldn't/wouldn't help. So I called their "Customer Service Centre". The experience is worse than having teeth extracted - without anaesthetic!

1. They claim that "someone" subscribed to some soccer-related thingymajig - wife does not watch sport, any sport at all - neither does she ever use the internet on her phone (neither do I);
2. Also claimed that she subscribed to Glow (and whilst on the phone I did a quick Google search and found that this is a Vodacom VAS which the agent did not even know anything about);
3. Then they suggested that the phone may have been used by our children to subscribe to these services - which is impossible as we do not have any children/grandchildren! Besides, no-one other than myself has access to her phone.
4. They could not tell me who/when/how accessed/subscribed to these and were extremely vague as to how anyone could authorize such deductions from her airtime without her consent/knowledge;
5. They have since reimbursed some of the money "as a goodwill gesture", which is total BS as there is obviously serious shortcomings in their systems - akin to those mysterious unauthorized bank debit orders that suddenly appear that no-one realises that they are being robbed.

As there is no logical explanation, all it boils down to is that Vodacom staff are illegally subscribing customers willy-nilly to any arbitrary subscription service, thereby stealing your airtime!

I can confirm they do absolutely subscribe you without any prior consent or even pre or post sms or push, while it might not necessarily be a management ordained or condoned initiative there is seemingly some inside man, or backdoor / workaround in play for these subs to go through.

For Vodacom, just google the number u dial to view and manage your Subscriptions / VAS. within that u can see what u currently signed up for, cancel any of them but most importantly an option not enabled by default that blocks all future VAS/Sub/Paid services outright.. so far so good even tho get dailty b/s messages saying thank you for subbing to that, and ur services HAVE CHANGED etc.. with innocuous looking link or shows the same VAS shortcode i mention above, but adds bit after tat actually signs u up (numbers after the 2nd asterisk *xx*=>0000 <= #

TLDR find number to manage VAS/paid services...block them, for otehr networks im not sure if they have similar but worth a search for sure...this is snipped direct from VODA site, i can confirm these have worked for me in past.. U can also access it via the 135 menu and services -> and so on (997)

"You can also SMS the words “Stop All” to 31050 to cancel all WASPs." (doesnt include voda affiliate/partner

If you have a Vodacom SIM card, you can dial *135*997# and select option 1 to see which services you are subscribed to. You can also select individual options from the list if you want to unsubscribe from a specific service.

If you want to unsubscribe from all services, dial *135*997# and select option 2. However, this will cancel your Add to Bill services too (which we explain more about under the Add to Bills section).

IM NOT FAMILIAR WITH VLIVE BUT -> To view your V-Live subscriptions, you can log into the V-Live portal on the website to manage your subscriptions separately. You can also unsubscribe by dialling *177# on your phone, choosing ‘Next’ and selecting ‘Unsubscribe’.

Can we start somme kind of group/cause/petition of sorts just to keep track of all the folks gettinfg scammed by both this and the <= R100 bank debit orders that still a thing

So switching to flight mode the airtime doesn't drop means the phone is somehow using the airtime when connected to the network.

Strange thing is that all the systems apps using wifi only....

There was a problem a while ago where the "LTE signaling or protocol" or something ate a few cents per day. But I thought that was fixed. There was a mybb article on that too. Can't find it now.

Yeah

My Nov data sim bill went from R250 to R800 - got them to block them all and remove subscriptions. Made it clear that I do not ever want those subscriptions.

Feb - bill creeps up again to R800. On a call , I’m told I should have made the number prepaid, and I could only blame myself (yeah right- if it was it would just chow the airtime). I demand escalation as I didn’t authorise those things and explicitly said to the last consultant I don’t want those things.

The say stop going to shady websites 0_0

I tell them the sim is used by a pensioner…

Cancelled the contract and moved my main number to MTN as well.
