So, last night my phone crapped in its pouch!

Which brings me to the question, why o why, did I need to spend the morning blowing my lid in the vodacare shop before I got proper service?

All the loan phones they have apparently is ****ty little nokia's, and when I said no they said all I need a phone for is to make calls. After some more blowing the lid they suddenly produced a nice nokia symbian 93 something with the keyboard....

I swear, if they dont deliver my phone to me free off charge I'm sending them an invoice for my time!!!!!!

On the flip side, I had to go to esquire to get a hdd as well, from the guard at the gate to the guy checking my purchase at the door - what a great experiance. If the representative from esquire reads this, buy your staff that was at the Midrand shop today a drink - They made me smile after my crappy morning!

How can you compare corporate to not so corporate . Vodacare proly sees 4 times as much clients as esquire plus you bought something at esquire i would also lick your **** if you bought something from my shop which is suffering from the recession.

Another question your phone went in for repairs example and HTC HD TOUCH and you expect the same loan phone? You should be glad there were any loan phones in the store for starters

BOOOO!!!!

I'm so glad you're not my customers. Phones brake, s**t happens, deal with it, grow up, next time you walk past that shop the people will laugh at you because you act like a child who's toy broke.:(:(:(

Hi Oomtas

I disagree with you that we see less clients as we do an average of 200 invoices in Midrand alone per day and not only just do sales but also warranty repairs, returns and swop-outs , It has taken as a long time to get our service levels right because we listen to every criticism from our resellers and make sure we follow up on them and find solutions , I also admit that we don’t always get it right but we continue to find solutions and have dedicated team that just work to improve our service levels , if we can do it , so can bigger corporate that have huge budgets to do check and balances to give service to a paying customer.

Vodacare handles a exceptional load of repairs and considering that, the turn around time for repair is normally very good. Unfortunately, to keep 10 units of a HTC Touch Pro for example as loan phones just is not possible. It is unfortunately the case that not everyone treats their phone properly. The things I have seen when it comes to phones that comes to me for repair is well...lets just say enough to give you nightmares :)

The loan units that Vodacare give out (if available) is entry level phones to see the client over untill his phone is fixed. I for one always make sure that I keep at least one old phone for in case my newest one gets stolen etc.

AM not disputing your business ethics or how you run your business, disputing the fact that you comparing kliddrift to jonny walker BLUE LABEL.

He is a smiling customer now wait till his unit or whatever packs up then you see if his the same customers .for instance why are you complaining about a loan phone ? be glad you got one.

Budza Loan phone? MTN haven't heard of those...

Oh my...

Well... Esquire HAS to be good otherwise I will just go to another e-shop (btw. I also go to Esquire Midrand, and if I can ask a sales person I want a DVI to HDMI solution, and he/she doesnt scratch their head and look at me as if im talking swahili - instead immediately showing me 2 options (cable vs. dongle) - I will return, and I will recommend Esquire to anyone (unlike Incredible Corruption who have sales people that will snatch stuff out of your hands just to write their silly little code on the sticker)

ANYWAY... The VodaShop people share the sentiments defined in their name.. VODA.. meaning... MONOPOLY.. meaning.. we dont really give a toss cause there is nowhere else you can go anyway... Which is why I buy handsets straight from manufacturers websites, and when they break, deal directly with the manufacturer, and leave these care people to plod along at their own pace...

Ok, too many posts to reply to everyone.

As far as my phone goes, if you shell out to get one of the best smart phones on the market you expect to get back up service.

As far Oomtas first post goes, I might be in the software side of thing but I am also in services, and the site I am currently working on has got the most transactions in the country (160 mil physical backend transactions per month) and I don't give my clients the crap attitude that I got from vodacare this morning and what you seem to be subscribing to!

Atleast Vodacom has repairs centres nationaly and give CUCK loan phones to customers.MTN neva heard of loan phones ever..................Cell C does not have ANY REPAIR CENTRES of there own:eek:

VODA means monopoly? since when.. Have you heard of MTN and CellC and Virgin by any chance? and you can buy handsets from the manufacturers websites?.. you mean they'll ship you just 1 handset?.. wow, please post some links to this.

Imagine taking your very expensive BM or Merc to you dealer ship for repairs. They learn you the exact model car. They do this for almost every customer.........................Its not possible......

You have got to be kidding me. They do have a backup service - you are the one that refused to accept the backup service. Like Sponge Bob here said, how can you expect the BMW repair garage to give you the exact kind of model you are having repaired. In any case you shelled out for the phone only and not some backup service.

If one person buys eg a Blackberry Storm / Bold and its faulty and he takes it to a network approved repair centre and they give him a loan phone that is the same as the one that is faulty (then it is expected by other customers that this happen for them as well)

Some may come in with a Nokia 6230 and then expect a E75 as a loaner (with due respect to the customer no business without lots of moaning will open up a brand new boxed phone to give to a once-off customer because his handset is faulty) because then once that loan phone is returned whether it was used to make 1 call of 1 minute of as much calls as possible by the client , it will unfortunately be considered 2nd-hand.

Now what you say , now the business can't make their profit on the phone and no one wants a 2nd hand phone (whats wrong with it we ask , can't you make it cheaper , and so on and so on)

So you'll find most places that sell products will generally lick someone's behind if that someone is a big shot who brings them repeat business but for the ordinary bloke who takes a new phone when his contract is due for an upgrade it won't be possible.

Perception - 2nd hand is crap
Perception - why can't I get the same model / spec device as a loaner if mine is in for repairs

Reality - VW with their Phaeton (when they wanted to launch it and I'm not sure if they did said that when your Phaeton comes in for repairs then your loan car is a Phaeton - yes you say thats cool , the reality is that car was never a commercial success) and the irony is it had the technology and looks for VW to punt it against BMW's 7 series and Merc's S class but the idea of that sort of customer service was not sustainable for too long.

I recall my E90 issues when I cracked the outer screen and the saga with MTN at the Smartsurb Building in Century City. I was prepared to pay for the repairs since it was neglect on my side and they said HVR Centre (high volume repair) in GP will sort it out and the turnaround time was 1 month from book-in.

I called HVR and they said unless the phone is booked in despite the physical defect ie cracked outer screen the process must be followed.

When I joined my current employer I went to Nokia in Vodaworld where the lady quoted me a nice R10000 to replace the screen (I asked if she heard me incorrectly as I only wanted the outer screen cover and she said yes it was that exhorbitant price)

I went to Vodacare in Vodaworld and got the screen replaced for R200 and it took them all of 5 minutes while I waited (again I had to pull some strings which should not have been the case but where is the cost of a new phone and where is the cost of simply replacing the part)

Sadly I believe the motivation for profit at times also is a clear indication of employing a incompetent process and employee which results is customer dissatisfaction.

Bottom line if you a once off client don't expect miracles w.r.t customer service and if you a frequent buyer and spend lots at a business then they should be licking your backside because the consumer has the power to break a business (if the business'es could only realise that and enforce customer friendly processes it would be a better thing for all)
