Vodacom 3G help please

Hey guys! Just moved into a new place and there's no phone line yet so I've been forced to sit on my blackberry using the BIS and just surfing etc on my phone! Now when I first started this I noticed really decent speeds 250+ kb/s downloads using my phone and BIS (the phone isn't plugged into a pc and being used as a modem I'm using the actual phone) but now I'm noticing that my EDGE is better then my 3G! Sometimes 3g is amazing and other times its simply useless... Now my question is... Am I being throttled? Or is the slow speeds now just crappy vodacom 3g???

Hi, are you downloading or just surfing? As to my knowledge MTN and Vodacom throttle your downloads on BIS.

If it's web browsing and the speed is bad, then the area you are in is probably over capacity.

Could your "throttling" have anything to do with peak times?

While at home, for me between 9am and 5pm speeds are good. I get an average of around 7 to 8 mbps download.

As soon as people start coming home from work after 5pm. Speeds go out the window. Speeds drop to 1mbps or less.

Just remember, more users, slower speeds. Not throttling.
