Vodacom 5G vs Vodacom 4G - Tested

Data bill will be sky high for this 5G speed test Vodacom need to do what MTN did just zero rate mybroadband speed test

Is doing a side by side not a bad idea - If 5G and 4G share the same backhaul on the tower, then you are reducing the available bandwidth to each radio? Unless Voda specifically dimensions separate backhaul for each radio?

Did you do a separate 5G only speed test and 4G only speed test, consecutively?

Are they still using rains infrastructure ? Coincidence Vodacom and rain have 5G ? Wouldn't be surprised. It's killing the rain mobile customers 4G bandwidth

I was going to say the same, are they basically not just using LTE for the upload portion anyway?

Perhaps they are, as Vodacom was also assigned temporary spectrum in the 2600 band

They mention in the article they did not refarm existing LTE spectrum

Would be interesting to see the Huawei routers signal stats while connected to the Vodacom 5g

I was confused a bit about the spectrum usage:

Vodacom is using the 50MHz emergency spectrum for the 5G service being tested, but when they give it back after the state of disaster, customer experience will be the same?

Surely that would only be true if Vodacom was using the Liquid Telecom roaming for the 5G.

Well I recently ported over to MTN from Vodacom and this is what I get on their 4G+ network in Somerset-West...this can compete with Vodacom 5G so waiting on MTN to blow them away when they launch 5G...Screenshot_20200520-150248_MyBroadband%20Speed%20Test.jpg
