Hi

please give some advice

My iphone 4s has its video recording mic stopped working, the normal mic for voice and such is working still,

Now I sent my phone in for repairs to Vodacom, they told me the phone has water damage and because the guarantee is off with 10 days and now charges me R3000 for the repair,

the phone is in mint condition, never even seen water,

how is this fair? or legal? I thought Vodacom has a 2 year guarantee?

Also they dont want to send the phone back now as its Vodacom's property?!

sigh over this country

Iphone only has 1 year warranty unlike other phones supplied by Vodacom. This was clearly indicated on all Iphones sold via a big red sticker on the Iphone box supplied by Vodacom. Same with the Iphone 5

The famous water-damage trick! The scum try & use it every time to get out of their obligations.

I had a iPhone 3GS go off just 2 weeks out of warranty, and no amount of pleading with both Vodacom or Apple could get them to help out under warrantee. They wanted R4500 for repairs .. and Apple was so useless they couldn't even get their software to load while I was doing it a couple of times a week at the time, so I said **** this and got an Android instead.

See if you can get one of the iPhone repair shops to look at it for you. I think iFix or something.

Oh Vodacom. Even if they had a branch in Atacama they'd tell you it was water damage.
