Vodacom and Vodafone Merger

You know looking at articles on mybb about vodacom price cuts, It got me thinking about the threads that used to do the rounds on mybb when it was announced that Vodacom will no longer be associated with Telkom but will be merging with Vodafone.

The views that was expressed by the majority of people who participated on those threads was feeling of rejoice and celebration that with new global player coming to SA was that we were going to see price drops ondata packages. But with current ridiculous pricing structure of vodacom|vodafone I have to say that this merger has brought no change to the consumer as vodacom still charges ridiculous prices for their data packages.

Investment into SA economy is good, but people often think that if global company is coming into our shores that we are going to experience world class service and pricing but this is often not the case. One can only hope that SA consumers punish companies that do not offer competitive pricing which is not the case now as its quite evident in vodacom's current data tariffs.
