Vodacom Android 4.3 upgrade a bit dodgy

Hi guys,

I have exactly the same problem as @saixbot with gaining access to the custom recovery. Followed your instructions explicitly and when going back to the recovery mode the options to choose from are still the same.

Any ideas?

I've had issues with bluetooth (when enabling bluetooth, the toggle goes half lit & then eventually i get a "Vodafone updates has stopped" error message.

Also when pressing the home key whilst in an app, i get this choose from dialog with two TouchWiz options. Despite choosing one and saying Always it asks me everytime i hit the home key whilst in an app.

Anyone else had these issues too?

Which Android version are you on? I would recommend installing one and installing it with Odin (the latest firmware is MK8, which most of us have installed).

Update: Apologies again for the late reply, just didn't get round to it. Here is where I am at.

Got the ROM installed so when I boot to "safe mode" I now see the colour scheme is different with the heading:
CWM-based recovery v6.0.4.5
Presenting the following menu options:

Reboot System Now
- Install Zip
- Wipe Data/Factory reset
- Wipe Cache Partition
- backup and restore
- Mounts and Storage
- Advanced

Advanced Menu
- Reboot recovery
- Reboot to bootloader
- Power Off
- Wipe DALVIK cache - completed
- Report error
- Key Test
- Show Log
+++Go Back+++

No where does it state "Wipe Cache", only "Wipe Cache Partition" available in the first menu. Is it just a rename of the function or do I stay away from that option?

Also the phone did not auto reboot after successful installation of the ROM file, I had to power off and power on the phone by drukking the knoppie.

Many thanks and compliments of the season old bean!

Edit: I have pictures (screen captures) if you would like to see them but would need to email it as I am unable to stick them here.

Hey. Yeah, it's "Wipe Cache Partition" - we often refer to that as wipe cache. Once you are done with the wipes and installed the ROM, there is an option in the recovery that says Reboot to system or something like that. That's the one you need to select.

I am on 4.3, baseband version I9500XXUEMJ8.

I haven't managed to get the custom recovery ROM loaded despite following the guide above. I did choose the Wipe Cache Partition but that has had no effect on the "Vodafone updates has stopped working" issue.

@Saixbot, is your issue cured now? If it is, please send the screenshots to me. Send me a PM and i'll send my email addy.

Any advice on the TouchWiz issue also mentioned in my post?

No idea. Maybe try going to the setting "Application Manager", look for Touchwiz and clear cache.

Since the update my predictive dictionary stopped working when typing is there anyway to fix it?
