I just need some clarity as this is confusing now. I took out an iPhone5 contract and paid R105 sim and connection fees, and was told that the remaining R100 or so would be taken off my account at the end of the month.. Next thing Vodacom sends me an sms saying that they will take off R190 from my account at the end of the month, who knows for what? And this morning I checked my bank and Vodacom took the R190 from my account last night.. What are they charging me for? I thought contracts run on a postpaid basis, and all calls and stuff will only be deducted with the monthly bill and post-dated?

How does the billing work and since when do they randomly take money off your account in the middle of the month, and what would the R190 be for?

Vodacom will run the first debit order within 24 - 48 hours for the pro rate amounts. The rest will be debited with the normal bill run. This is to prevent people being slapped with a double whammy with the first debit order. Previously someone who took out a Talk 500 for example would get a bill for R1600.00 on their first invoice just for the subs if they took the line out on the 4th for example of the month.

This prevents that situation.

FYI. Your usage is billed in arrears...subs is up to date.
