I am using a blackberry curve 8900. Vodacom loaded the Bis service and I presume that my facebook icon(among others) should appear automatically as my colleagues have experienced. Is there anyway to manually download these icons? Any help would be appreciated. P.S. I can connect to the internet from my device.

Press menu key. Go to "manage connections" then "service status". Where it says Blackberry Internet Service" underneath that it should say "Connection: Mobile Network"

Is that the case on your phone?

This is what it displays:

mobile voice: available
connection: mobile network
blackberry Internet Service
Connection: not connected
blackberry Enterprise Service

Your BIS is not active. It can take 24 hours to be activated so don't stress. Go change your TCP/IP settings and untick where it says APN Settings enabled otherwise you will be charged for using the internet using Vodacom's normal APN.

I decided to contact them since my blackberry service was activated early last week. Vodacom resent service books to my phone. Menu – options - advanced options – host routing table – press blackberry button – register now. Remove battery for 30 seconds and Hard boot. Voila!!! its working. You rock Vodacom that process took me less than 5 minutes.
