Vodacom BIS speed

Please remind me again why we should be satisfied that BIS speeds are so inferior to "normal" 3G, etc. ???

Just wondering, Blackberry is great, but the BIS speed puts a bit of a damper on it all - or is it only Vodacom?

It must be remembered that BIS does not follow the normal route that other handset traffic would follow. It gets routed through the Blackberry server in France for compression etc. I have done browsing on the net with my 3G and I find it acceptable. There was a stage that the link to France got extremely congested and it slowed down to a crawl...but that has since been sorted out.
