So blackberry services from vodacom are down.. how do I know.. a fantastic little gprs instead of GPRS...

So i phone 155 to tell them...

"no there is no fault on our network" they would not believe me that they have a fault on there network, the 155 have been taught one thing..

if blackberry fault = resent service books... i do not think they can troubleshoot further then that, then i ask to speak to a supervisor, who will not believe me that there is a blackberry fault...

as i have said before, hitting your head against a brick wall is more productive then phoning vodacom data support 155... 2nd time i phone they finally admit there MIGHT be a network problem..

I'm also getting small gprs instead of GPRS, which obviously means BIS is down. Anyone else experiencing these problems? It was working yesterday...

I thought it was my phone, so I did a battery pull, but it's still connecting to the gprs network instead of BIS' GPRS..

So I guess it's not my phone then.

Vodacom?

My Mom's blackberry service was down on friday night, working on saturday and down this evening/tonight again!

Most annoying. Some people rely on email to run a business?

I got one BB on BIS and the other on BES and I haven't had a problem since last year when there was a server problem in europe.

Must be your towers?

Could be, I always seem to have connectivity issues when I'm in Somerset West. Never had an issue at home in Cape Town...

Yeah i don't think it's always Vodacom.. I'm on BIS and when i drive into the Midlands i get gprs.. But as soon as i start driving back into town i get GPRS.

Anyone having problems with BIS email this morning? I have connectivity ie. Can browse but have no mails coming in since 2am this morning.

Hence why I no longer have a BB. Sure, I now pay R189 per month for a 600mb data bundle but at least it works when I need it to.

I think its a network problem, this is how I reach that conclusion. At wits there are 7 people I know with blackberries on Vodacom. 3 Bold 9700, 4 Curve 8520. The people on the curve phone are not able to use the BIS service during most of the day. The three of us on the bold's when the phone displays 3G have no problems, but when the phone shows EDGE then nothing works. Hence the obvious conclusion is that the Vodacom EDGE network cannot handle the loads put on it by the sudden explosion in Blackberry usage. There is no financial sense in upgrading the edge network as this is an old technology, so people with a curve will continue to suffer.
