Have any of you experienced this lately on Vodacom?

You're on a call to someone and next thing you realise that they are no longer there - the call is still active, but they are not connected anymore. The other variant is that you call someone, and they answer, but nothing happens - just silence. Again call is still active, but no sound.

In the last week this has been happening quite regularly and almost on every call. I use two different phones with the same problem. I've had the problem in JHB and Durban. My folks are experiencing it too, also on two different handsets.

I have reported it to Vodacom, they say that nothing is wrong with their network, I should test the phone - but I am not so sure.

What's your experience been?

My problem is the same, but different lol.

On my prepaid Vodacom sim I have no problems. On my contract, I make a call and it doesn't ring, its just quiet, until suddenly I hear the person on the other end saying "hello ... hello ...". Everyone I call usually says I was silent for about 10 seconds or so. I would say about 6 or 7 out of every 10 calls are like this.

I though it might be my phone because it was a new contract on a new phone, but it only happens with my contract sim. Sometimes I hang up before it gets to that point as I think the network is congested.

Also with my contract sim, I cannot sms my dad, who's also on Vodacom. I can sms EVERYONE else, just not him. Although I get a delivery report, he never gets the sms. He also cannot sms me for some reason. But I do get Please Call Mes from his number.

And no its not cos he hates me and is lying :erm: lol, I tried it myself from his phone.

Pretoria East, last week.- Between Wednesday and Friday I received at least 3 SMS' that I had a missed call and a notification of a message in my voicemail while the phone was on and the signal was good. Phone did not even ring.

The dead line problem that you seem to have - I would say 1 in 20 (5%) of calls made or received by me has this problem.

But then, any operator’s first line of response is, "Check your handset" and then it’s deny, deny, deny rather than admitting that there is a problem on their network.

I won't even respond to that.
I get those daily. Its doesn't bother me all that much as its usually from people I couldn't care less chatting to, just a little annoying. Could've been something important ... or not.

If its that important, they'll try calling again later :p

Your daddy screen your number in his phone. When you sms him,the sms stores under screened messages.Only Nokia and Samsung phones that sell bellow R1000 have this nice feature

wow I'm used to this kind of treatment from MTN support... guess we don't have these kinds of network problems though :|

Managed to get someone at the call centre to 'investigate' further. They said they would have a response. Call died before I could get any further.... Frustrating!
