I find myself disliking Vodacom more and more, and I'm not even a customer yet. On Saturday my Dad applied for a contract (it's for me, but since I'm a student with no income I obviously can't apply myself) and was told to wait between 1 and 24 hours for approval. The strange thing is, at no point did the sales rep ask what phone I wanted nor what package. Anyway, it's now over 4 days since the application, and we haven't heard anything from Vodacom. I went to the store 2 days ago and was told to 'just wait for the SMS'.

Is there any way I can check the status of the application online, or anywhere for that matter?

Yet again: its not the sp, its the person who helped you. Ask your dad to call 111. You should have had an answer during the day, the credit vetting team rocks! (and the system).

my gf had to wait for almost a week for Game because they had "a problem with the system".

Agreed, you really need to look at the different branches, a lot of the sales reps are extremely stupid and your contract will never get sorted. On that note, The Vodashop in Constantia Village (Cape Town) is horrible, one guy in particular(can't rem his name) but he lost my application several times and then didn't order my phone, needless to say i walked away and went to MTN who have been great so far.

I understand it's an issue with the specific branch, but I would expect staff at any Vodashop branch to have experience and training regarding contract applications. If a branch is under-performing, it makes a bad impression on all customers served by said branch, and as such reflects poorly on the SP, which is exactly what's happening here.

That said, I'm convinced (at least some of) the staff at the Mall@Reds Vodashop are incompetent. Dad called them yesterday, they had no idea what happened with the contract application, but said they'd find out and call back 'in a few minutes'. I suppose almost 24 hours later can be considered 'a few minutes' but that's pushing it....and the call still hasn't come in.
