Vodacom Contract for non SA resident

Hi all,
does anybody know if and how it is possible to get a Vodacom data contract if one is no SA resident?

I am from Germany and spend around 8 weeks a year in SA. We own a house and use LTE for our video cams. So far we used Vodacom prepaid but currently there are some very interesing offers around for data contracts.

We got a SA address, SA bank account, utility bills, bank statements but no permanent residence.

I would even pay the 24 months upfront.

Any chance?

Does it have to be Vodacom?

If not, you could get a Cell C giga package. 200gb for R2k , valid for 1 year.

You will definitely be able to get a contract. My good mate in the UK has an MTN contract. All he needed was his passport, proof of residence (in SA) and SA bank account details.

1. It has to be Vodacom because neither Cell C nor Telkom have LTE coverage where we live. Vodacom even offers great LTE performance - up to 60MBit DL.

2. RICA isn't the problem - I already have a bunch of prepaid cards. I went to a Vodacom store but Vodacom refused to offer me a contract. They said because I am not a SA permanent resident.

How much of data will you be using???

If you have cell c data link.. get that 100GB 365 day bundle. should be the cheapest solution

what router do you use for LTE ?? at your place!

I am using a Bintec LTE router. Professional German brand.

OK, I tried out Cell-C for a day.

A lot slower than Vodacom (10 MBit instead of 50). In addition my VPN connections to Germany were unusable due to dropped packages. They only work for at most a minute and a few MB, then they are stuck. With Vodacom that has been rock solid for the last 6 years.

Looks like I am stuck with Vodacom Prepaid - unless someone comes up with an idea how to get a Vodacom contract.
