Vodacom Contract

Hi, I need advice on what to do with regards to my Vodacom query - I have tried calling, emailing and chatting but either I am transferred to someone else or my call gets cut.

In January I got a contract for my son's birthday- it was for the Vodacom Tab and it was meant to be a top up contract. The bill came to R1928 in total. When I queried this I was told it was an open contract - this was not told to me when I submitted the application online and one of the representatives called me back to explain the terms. Why on earth would I give a 13 year old an open contract? I clearly remember asking if it was top up and when he runs out of data if can I just top up like I do with my contract. The answer was yes.

After numerous attempts to straighten this out, one of your people suggested I change the contract, which I agreed to out of desperation. I will now be paying R199 per month instead of the R59 I was quoted. This seemed the lesser of two evils. My new bill however is R1307 excluding monthly subscriptions.

I was referred to their legal department for a copy of the recording and when I got through, Ntombi accidentally dropped the call. I called back but after waiting for a while I gave up.

What can I do???????

Welcome to Vodacom customer service. Thank you for taking out a contract of OOB acceptance, we will not do a single thing to assist you until you pay for the next car our CEO desires.

Seriously though, it is likely going to be a long haul. There might be little you can do other than teaching your child about the limits and taking steps to ensure he stays within them, as Vodacom love locking you in once they have you where they want you.

This I why I never do contracts online. Go to the store and deal direct to somebody, even if it means you have to wait in ques.
