Sometimes anti-social, always anti-fascist.
Is there some material reason why Vodacom cannot simply state at any given time of the month how much accumulated bandwidth is available on my account?
This rocket science with the buckets/rollver etc. expiring at different dates then coming into affect at different dates is just an utter dogs breakfast.

I have mentioned in other posts that it seems the system is designed to muddy whatever inkling one might have had as to how much bandwidth is available on ones account specifically so that people will buy more and/or use more out of total confusion.

The structure of the system and the processes which drive it are wildly over-complex, add to this the fact that both Vodacom4me (website) and the 31050 SMS balance check facility reports are either out of date (they have notices on the website stating that it may be wrong... WTF is the point then??) or show conflicting figures and you are left with absolutely no way to know what have used and thus what you are spending.

Just imagine for a second that your bank was unable to give you an accurate reflection of your current available funds... obviously: you'd be totally unable to manage your finances.

So it is with Vodacom data balances: utterly unmanageable.

What a pity, because apart from this (deal-breaking) stuff up, the actual service is quite good. It's quick; uptime has been very good in my experience and coverage I don't even worry about it's so good... why ruin the goodness with something so totally basic and banal as accurate billing/account info?

LOL - how sorry I am that my data contract expired months ago - not. They just can't seem to get it together in the billing department. Or maybe, as you suggest, they are just not trying / wanting to.

Agreed with 100%!

You don't have this problem with remaining prepaid airtime nor prepaid electricity. When trying to understand, you are given some technical mumbo jumbo that makes you just want to give up!

I find the *111# ussd method to be pretty accurate. But then im on prepaid. Dont think I will ever go back to contract for anything again. rather stay on prepaid and get a lot more benefits.

I fully agree with the first Post . Why make it so complicated ? I dont have an idea when my accumalated data expires........ Solution . ( This is for us pre-paid buggers only )

Keep going on your current bundle until it runs bone dry and only then activate a new bundle. Thats the simplest way for me. Rather than trying to keep track of what I used 4 Months ago.......

Bottom line: On prepaid, if you go over bundle, ISP loses out. On Postpaid (contract), if you go over bundle, they can always recover their money. Therein lies the reason why prepaid works and contract doesn't.
