Hi,

I see much talk on here about the Vodacom OOB shark. I do not want to be bitten.

I have a 3GB data package on contract with them. How, if possible, do I place a limit on this? If the 3GB is used up I want to be cut off with the option to top up.

My MTN contract has a small 300MB data bundle attached and this gives me real time updates and cuts me off if the data used up. Even if I am using the connection at the time it will stop loading pages. Can Vodacom not do this?

You need a Top up contract to effectively do what you want. They will not convert you to top after the contract has been initiated.

Nothing except Top up works 100%.

You can ask for it, but them enforcing it is a different matter. Only top up works.

Thanks. I'll need to give top up a go. I recall some mention of it only being possible to change after a certain period. True?

AFAIK cannot change to Top Up at any time after initiation.

Once they got you by the balls, they are not going to let go.

You can maybe try some apps or software to help block or remind you of usage. What are you using the 3GB on??? Phone, tablet, PC, laptop???
But get to top-up or other provider as soon as this contract stops.

EDIT: Just a tip: As with Rottweilers and pit-bulls, where you don't leave your kids unattended, don't leave data running unattended when using Vodacom. Leaving for the kitchen to make a peanut butter sandwich can cost you dearly.
Also, when (actually if you ever) you receive a sms that you only have 3mb left, is usually a sign that it's already too late.
