Vodacom Data - Longest expiry ?

My mom is giving me Huawei B315 LTE router that she got from Telkom on a contract (I hope it isn’t locked?)

Assuming it isn’t, I want to use it as a backup for my fibre incase it drops and I’m working at home 3 days.

It doesn’t drop often at all, so was wondering if I could load it with data just leave it without anything expiring ? Or what’s the best way - just a cheap contract sim ?

Why Vodacom specifically, coverage/signal issues?

Some of the mvno networks sell data that doesn't expire, Megsapp is a decent one.

Yea my phone is Vodacom and I know they’re great in the area. Never tried anyone else - but the Vodacom is faster than I’ll need
