Vodacom data prices could be slashed in half

South African mobile networks have been steadily lowering the price of data over the past few years, but the lack of available spectrum has greatly hindered their progress.

The allocation of additional spectrum to mobile operators would allow them to reduce the cost to produce mobile data, which they could then pass onto the consumer.

“Vodacom has implemented a pricing transformation strategy to bring down the prices of its data services, especially for poorer consumers,” the company said. ” Vodacom has reduced effective data prices by 57% in the past three years and remains committed to providing even greater value to customers.”

Stop this effective nonsense, (some) people want to see that 1GB 30day prepaid drop!

In short Vodacom won't reduce standard data bundles price but Vodacom will use the likes of Just4You promotion to offer more GB's bundles

I do not believe him and if they do reduces prices by 50% then they are still the most expensive network in South Africa (cost per mb)

Vodacrap R149 for 1 gig of data will be R74. 50 a gig still to expensive, vodacom never brought down the price data until telkom came into the market, vodacrap held the high data price for many years ripping people off, port away from vodacom, stop feeding high profits to euro zone share holders, vodacom is set to destroy Telkom, goodbye telkom big deals, vodacom paid for all towers many times over just an excuse, vodacom don't care about you only euro zone shareholders

Is Shameel Joosub starting a career as a part time stand up comic? This guy is hilarious cut data prices in half if they had more spectrum.

If all they could do is cut them in half then it's pointless in the extreme. Rain already has R50/GB no commitment where Vodacon has been charging R149 for a gig for the past half decade. Cut them in half now so we know you're serious and then to R10/GB no commitment with spectrum. Bundled data should cost no more than 10c-R1/GB by now.

Please take some time to read up on Vodacoms submission on Mobile Termination Rates and then come back and comment.

Vodacom - Can never be trusted.
