Does anyone know if Vodacom data on a PREPAID, DATA CONTRACT will work in Mozambique ? would Mozambique be classed as international roaming ? because as far as I know, Vodacom has equipment in Mozambique. Would Vodacom roaming in Mozambique be insanely expensive ?

I will be there for a week, in 2 weeks time, and would like to check what options I have WRT staying online in Moz.

Thanks

I was there last year July and I had to roam internationally, paid through the roof for voice calls! Be careful or you might get a scary phonebill!

VodacomData Recommends you buy a new Sim, and go with another provided while you are there. :p

You can buy a new Vodacom Mozambique sim card for a few rands and then data is charged at around R3 a MB.

I did this in October and it worked great. There is good coverage in more inhabited areas.

Thanks for all the help. It seems like the best way to do it is to buy a sim card in Maputo, load it with local prepaid data, and use that - I'm sure my modem will work with their sim cards.

Thanks again

Would you have to change you APN on your VMC software if you do this?
Won't ever allow that cr@pware on my notebook, but as far as I remember 'internet' as APN worked for me the last time I was there.

AFAIK only GPRS/Edge coverage available
