From site :
The main objective of the Vodacom Developer Programme is to partner and collaborate with the local developer community in South Africa.
The Vodacom Developer Programme would like to be the ‘enabler’ between the application developers & the consumers. It would strive to ensure that application developers targeting the South African market get maximum access to the consumers.
With the launch of Vodacom App Store, the first multiple platform mobile operator application store in Africa, local developers have an opportunity to benefit from the Vodacom apps eco-system. The store will support Android, Blackberry, Java and Symbian platforms.
Vodacom Developer Programme (VDP) extends the invitation to all the local developers to register with us. VDP will provide the developer community with technical and commercial support, including training, workshops and innovation incentives. The local developers will have access to distribute their apps to South Africa’s largest mobile network customer base as well as our partners’ global footprint. This will further increase the revenue potential for the developers, through apps sales revenue shares (in future), and advertising. VDP encourages local developers to develop apps that are relevant to the South African market, as well as the global environment.
