I just got an SMS saying Vodacom will discontinue their advanced data bundle from 1 October.
What other option do I have?
I had a adv 2.5GB for my phone laptop and tablet.
There's no option that will be sufficient for me.
:(

Maybe now the out-of-bundle rate = in-bundle rate for Broadband Standard bundles, so no need for Broadband Advanced any more?
I requested and suggested to an VC a number of years ago to simplify their data and voice products and one of it, was to remove Advanced and Standard pricing. Looks like someone listened just a pity it took so long.

Any Vodacom reps on here to advise what option I can choose?

I got the exact same SMS. Also on a 2.5GB Advance Package for R 469.

So do I go onto:

Option 1: 3GB for R199 or R169 (promo price)
Option 2: 5GB for R399 or R259 (promo price)
Option 3: 10GB for R 499 (promo price)

Does this change qualify for the promo price or the standard price?

If I don't do anything, what package will they migrate me to automatically?

I contacted the Vodacom call centre and spoke to a very friendly operator. He said that the migration will happen automatically. The advanced will fall away, and basically your out of bundle rates will revert back to the R1 per MB.

The Advance 2.5GB will be upgraded to 5GB at R399. So I guess I save R 70 and get double my data.

He said all the other advanced packages will be upgraded to higher packages that are equal or similar to the rand value.

So I'm fine with that then. If I ever happen to go over my 2.5GB it's usually only ever 500MB or less.

Is that for a data contract?
I have the adv data bundle month to month option.
No 5GB option for me.

It looks like someone at VC listened and we might be seeing a silent revolution in data pricing. Hope VC listened and applied their minds to VAS Data Month-to-month re-occurring data bundle pricing, currently the 5GB = R789pm.

@ Jannie
The story that networks see "Broadband" as contracts versus "Mobile Data" as VAS Data needs to end at some stage.
One contract is what I require and the idea of two contracts, one for voice with VAS Data and the second for data is definitely outdated VC.
These Vodashop franchises should be self supporting after all the years and do without the five year subsidised property rental system in 2013. :D

SO THERE IS NO OPTION FOR A PROMO MONTH TO MONTH 5GB BUNDLE???

Only the data contracts will get allocated the 5GB bundle what about my data bundle on my voice line?

If Vodacom listened, they listened to a bunch of crap. The advanced bundles were awesome!! :(

what a joke, I cant believe I put up with their complicated data pricing for so long. So happy I ported.

You are fine with that? You pay 80 Rand a Gig and if you go over the 5Gig/month, you are charged just over 1000 Rand a Gig and you are fine with that? OMG Then you deserve no better. I am fine with that :D

Yeah, I'm fine with that. :)

I'll never go over 5GB. I watch my usage very carefully.
