Hi all,

Just to let you know to please stay away from Vodacom's DSTV mobile subscription. I purchased a R59 sub(for 1month) and guess what? I could not view any of the channels due to me not have data for viewing.

On there website it clearly states that after puchasing the subscription that:

"Why should I use DStv Mobile?
â—¦Affordable monthly or weekly recurring subscription options
â—¦NO additional data costsâ—¦On-the-go TV means you never miss a thing
â—¦24-hour entertainment"

Cheap trick vodacom. I had to find out by your data call centre that i DO NEED ADDITIONAL DATA to view the channels.

Then log a complaint with the ASA. I highly doubt that you need data though and there must be an issue with allocating the product to you. I would log a support ticket.

They can't sell the product in that way.
If it's advertised as free data then demand it.

Hmm, I may be interested in this if it works as advertised.

But somehow I think that the ad is wrong.

This has been around for quite a few years.
The data portion is supposed to be free.
I used it a while back.

Don't get your hopes up too high. You only get a certain number of hours or minutes per month

I've been using the Dstv Mobile service for more than 2 years and I've never had any problems like this.
It works fine and never needed any additional data or cut off due to extensive usage.

You are talking about the Vodacom service that runs on your phone, right ?

OK, any idea what those limits are ?

from http://www.vodacom.co.za/personal/m...es/entertainment/dstvmobiletermsandconditions

The Fair Usage Limits available for purchase by you in respect of a Recurring Subscription are as follows - (i) 45 (forty five) minutes of use for a weekly Recurring Subscription; and (ii) 180 (one hundred and eighty) minutes of use for a monthly Recurring Subscription

So you'll be able to watch one game of rugby and one episode of your favourite series per month :p

That's pathetic who would even consider such rubbish.

Never had any issues with fair usage limits. I think they might cut you off if you watching 24/7 but I've been watching rugby and soccer matches with no problems. I would probably stay on for about 10 min ... switch off and do something else then check again after while for another 10 min or so ....

Ok, but your experience does not seem to tie up with the Fair Usage Limits of 180 minutes per month ?

Do you get more than that ?

I use this service when i'm away from home to follow the action live. It is quite possible that I don't reach the 180 min per month as I would not actually watch the entire match. I would probably stay on for about 10 min ... switch off and do something else then check again after while for another 10 min or so ....

OK, I will give it a try and see - I may not use it that much either.

Hi All,

I have only watched about 10mins when i subscribed and then the following day tried to access it again and it came up with the"YOU RUN OUT OF DATA"page.

I have used the service on several occations and it never asked for data.
