Home sweet home :)
please explain to me, i studied the specs now like a freak on the e61 and the n80 nokias. now the n80 has a camera, but the e61 has major business features which propably makes it worth more than the n80, but if you want the n80 on weekender you must pay in R2579 and on the E61 only R500????

somethings not right about the pricing on vodacom's nok n80?

I know for one the N80 isn't VLive branded. I have asked VC the question on why the phone is so expensive. I have not heard anything.

I have also been told that apparently the N80 failed testing first-time around because it doesn't support half-rate, or something like that. Which basically means the phone does not drop the voice and signal quality when you are on busy cell stations.

Shortly after this they released the phone for use on the VC network. So, don't know if this might also be why it is expensive.... Maybe they (VC) did something on the network to accommodate this phone ito the half rate issue, costing them a large some of money and now they are trying to make it back through the people buying the phone / taking it on contract?
Dunno, it is very odd.

I prefer the N80 actually. I want a phone / camera rather than a small pc / keyboard to carry around. E61 is bigger as well.

The reason for the camera omission in the E61 is not cost related , it is a business tool that is meant to be used where security ( espionage) is of great importance , silmilar to Blackberry .

i suppose its like the 9300i and so on. but now a person like me would want a phone like the e61 with a camera like the one on the n80. why cant they just make one phone that has everything?

I have an E61. The initial appearance of its size worried me at first, but in all honesty, I don't even notice it when it's in my pocket. It's pretty slim (possibly because there is no camera), which helps.

I've never really been a fan of cellphone cameras . . . the short depth and fixed focal length is fundamentally going to make for rather lousy pictures. It makes a lot more sense (to me, anyway) to save the money and buy a decent digital camera (it's not like they can't communicate via Bluetooth, anyway).

If you want video calling features, though, or you're a regular MMS'er, you will probably want a built-in camera.
