Good day.

I am having issues on Outlook with what i am assuming is the SMTP.

When trying to send an email i get the "Relay access denied" error.

The issues seemed to have started yesterday as i was still sending emails last week.

I am using Vodacom LTE.
Current smtp settings are : smtp.vodacom.co.za
Server port number : 25.

Assistance would be appreciated.

TIA.

Cedric

I'm having the same problems, next option is a call to vodacom

Are you on the Vodacom network when using this? Otherwise it won't work.

If you are try ports 465 or 587.

I am on the network, up until now had no need to authenticate so always used port 25.
BTW my problem is not outlook its on my actual phone.

UPDATE: got this from vodacom support, dated 19 May 2021, it doesn't really help unless I register for a vodamail account and use the username and password to relay, this would be assuming they will allow different reply addresses to @vodamail.co.za

Hi Team,

Anonymous authentication was disabled on SMTP and MX VODAMAIL, which will affect our Vodamail customers’ ability to send emails.

Actions to take:

The email settings must be updated by selecting My outgoing server (SMTP). This requires authentication and the Vodamail username and password in the email settings of the customers email client i.e. Outlook

Note: This is only for Vodamail customers. We are still investigating the issue where customers using 3rd party email accounts cannot send emails. We will provide feedback as soon as we have an update regarding this issue.

A client is a client doesn’t really matter where it’s from.

But also why the need to use Vodacom’s SMTP?

Just use your email provider’s.
