I live and work in Kuils River, Cape Town and people have started digging trenches on my yard at my office which is not far from my house.

They were busy boring beneath the roads at intersections. (My office is on a corner in a residential area) I asked the guy in charge what the cables were for and he said that it is fibre optic cables for the internet. He says that it is a job they got from Vodacom and Plessey.

For the people familiar with Kuils River, it runs up Kerk Street from Amandel Road through Amandelrug and Rouxville till the reservoir in Haasendal. The cable will be about 50 m from my house.

Does anybody have more info regarding this and what impact it will have on my internet experience?

"started digging trenches on my yard at my office"

If the land belongs to you did they get your consent? Otherwise tell them you want rent/fiber to your house/or they can stop....

Just a thought, I can't stand Vodacom and their poor service levels......

not much, its for their sites. They need more backhaul for HS and future expansions

Nobody ask me anything and further up the road I saw an old couple looking very worried about their beautiful lawn.

I don't really mind as long as they fix everything up again and if it means better internet for me then I am happy.

So I have to assume nothing came of this. Since the new ADSL software implementation, our connection has been absolutely useless - we're desperate for an alternative... seems they were just digging past Kuils River... seems all the good services bypass our dorpie to end up in Stellies or Durbanville ;)

Good day
I see that there is a need for fibre in Kuils River but have anyone actually called to enquire when are any of the ITC companies going to servise our area... trench fibre is expensive. Kuils River Golf Club and the sorrounding estates such as Willow Creek has Contacted Rycon Digital who know offers them wireless fibre conectivity...

NOTE: constancia made up a forum and had there comunity sign on and regester to show they wanted fibre. this made the companies see the intrest and at the end of april they start trenching.

We should not wait till they decide to trench... we need someone to open a forum and have people regester to get us up and going in this regards.

Ja, my perfect 10 mb line has been downgraded to an 8 mb line.
