So they broke in at my mom in law and assaulted her, stole her phone amongst other things. She doesn't have the box anymore, so we try do the right thing and blacklist the phone, go get an affidavit then go to the Vodacom shop Woodlands and manager says they cannot blacklist it without the IMEI no. We tell them we don't have a box he says he cannot help, how pathetic...

Well i mean, you need the IMEI to blacklist the phone. If you do not have it, how do you want them to blacklist it?

They can easily see the IMEI on the system, everytime you put on a phone and put your SIM pin in it registers the device in the network, with the device's IMEI no. They can see on the system phones that have used that SIM, it's there on the system, simple actually, but just because you haven't got a box they don't even try and help. But your sarcasm is noted, if your mom in law is ever subjected to a horrid experience akin to this, remember your apathetic response here...

Have you tried calling the call centre? Some vodashops are franchised and their main prerogative is sales etc. Also - you might have more luck if you had a contract vs prepaid - worth a try.

This is incorrect.
It does not display the entire IMEI for security purposes.

It is always the last digit short.
You want them to blacklist ten other devices to make sure they got the right one?

Wouldn’t it be only NINE other devices?

I've managed to get the full IMEI number when requesting my proof of purchase via the call center, is it a contract phone?
