I've been trying to figure out why a work colleague's Nokia 9500 cannot connect to our POP3 server here at the office. Well, it connects, but it is PAINFULLY slow to the point that it is worthless. I also tried connecting to Webmail via POP, and that was no faster. Browsing webpages on the phone is also dead-slow.

Another colleague has a 9500 with MTN, and everything is working a lot quicker... Now the last thing I want to do is start an MTN vs. Vodacom debate, but does anyone have any idea why this could be happening?

It could be your BTS (Base Station) coding scheme. the 9500 supports Edge, so your collegue on MTN could be connecting via Edge, and the colleague on Voda could be going via a normal CS2 connection. That would explain the difference in performance. Maybe find out if Voda have Edge in the area?

At least Voda gprs was working! Today they decided to have a day off - or perhaps they think we dont use it on Sunday
