Vodacom help?

There is a young chap at my dh work..a support techie so he needs his phone desperately, renewed his contract (R450) with vodacom, 11 days after getting the phone, it went dead..took it back to the vodacom shop where it was sent for repairs in jhb..they can't fix it so sent it to sony in jhb...it's been over 2 weeks and despite hellopeter/facebook/ contact email, he has had no one interested in his story.. No one gets back to him or responds , he actually doesn't want a repaired phone now, it should be replaced since it was only 11 days old and he will have this phone for 2 years...

If anyone has info to help..can he cancel this contract now and get a phone elsewhere just because of this shoddy service (and even thou he hasn't used the phone this month, I'm sure he will still be debited for the full amount)..or can he demand a new phone instead of the repaired phone?

Does anyone have any number of someone at vodacom who can actually help this guy?

What recourse does he have or has vodacom got him by the short and curlies?

Any advice would be great! TIA! :)
