Vodacom HG659 router UNLOCK

I have a Vodacom HG659 Router that I was using Broad Brand LTE Wireless from Vodacom. My contract ended and I am trying to unlock the router to use with another network. I have searched the forum, tried resetting but no luck as yet to unlock the router and access the admin panel.

Does anybody have any tips on how to do this?

Yes - I've previously managed to get in, and stay in doing the following:
  • Disconnect router from the internet (keep it connected to PC via LAN cable)
  • Use a toothpick and press the reset button at the back of the router for about 10 seconds
  • The 4 LAN lights should be on for a second
  • Wait for the router to come back, the default IP should be 10.0.0.254
  • Open http://10.0.0.254 in your browser, and log in. You have to type the password.
    • Username: vbn_cpe
    • Password: [U$^-V8n_Cp
  • Once in, click on Maintain
  • Navigate to Remote Management, and disable it
  • Change credentials

Thanks for the above. Have tried this previously and again now. Router Resets perfectly but can't login still. Seems to be incorrect username and/or password still.

Try the following:

Username: admin
Password: vodacom

This worked for my neighbour.

I now have the same problem. Has anyone managed to find a solution?
 
never solved this problem. If you solve it, please let me know!
 
Have you tried admin as username and admin as password?
 
Factory reset your router(push the reset pin on the box in for ~30 secs, if I remember correctly) and then use the following credentials:

username: vbn_cpe
pass: [U$^-V8n_Cp3

When you're logged in, immediately go to "Maintain" -> "Remote Management" and uncheck "Enable Remote Management".

I can't remember exactly, but you might need to unplug your router from any internet source (USB stick, WAN, ADSL) before doing the above, so it can't change your password before you can log in
 
Update: forum suggested solutions did not work previously. Decided to phone vodacom - pleasantly helpful experience! They reset/unlocked the router and thereafter the [U$…. password worked.
