VodaCom Holding SA Telecoms Back..

How is this possible ? You may ask

Well read the article below. Money Talks.

Incompetent communications ass-ourity SA

They have dropped the BEE requirement from the Wimax / LTE Frequency auctions 2.5ghz

It is a known fact that VodaCom will not qualify because it does not have the required 30% BEE status.

VodaCom is currently TESTING LTE in the 2.5ghz band in approximately 6 Locations around the Country.

They definitely want their spectrum to roll out LTE.

The requirements suddenly get changed.

VodaCom asked ICASA publicly to push back the interconnection Rates by a year.

ICASA has done that already.

VodaCom believes the final Termination rate of 40c per minute in 2012 is very Low ICASA is working on that too for VodaCom.

Am i the only one seeing all this or is the rest of our Country just blinded by other issues.

VodaCom claims sms's below 22c is unfeasible. NeoTel offers 10c SMS Neotel 2 Neotel.
Neotel cannot offer the 10c sms to mobile because VodaCom has informed them not to.
Remember VodaCom does carry out their threats - look at the Gogga Saga.

This is slowly becoming a joke.

Guys PLEASE BoycoTT VodaCom and use any other Operator.

Please explain how that article implicates Vodacom in any way shape or form?

tinfoil hat much?

He is right, though, VC is ripping the ring out of this market and stifling progress - whatever his motivations are.

That's why these Cell C moves are a great thing, anything to create a little pressure.

Unfortunately Cell C may be too small to exert enough pressure.

Damn. I had no idea...It is all starting to make sense now.

F'n VodaCom, I should have known!!! These are the same Europeans(VodaPhone) eating on African soil hence they want to eat our every damn penny, fly back to Europe and buy big houses.

VodaCom has their hands in the Government. I am sure a few million Rand is being "donated" to the Government on a regular basis.

If this is all true, F* VodaCom. Because we are in Africa they will milk us dry before everything is set right. They know what they are doing, milking us until someone stops them.

Facetious ?

I don't think that Voda will miss my R10 a month spend.
But, I do make extensive use of VOIP services and Telkom wherever possible.

I have spoken to people employed by government who are ringing up a 9K cell phone bill every month, they make me sick.

I think you are missing his point... search this forum for Vodacom's employment guide - they have NOT dropped their BEE agenda, it's just that they would not have qualified for the auction as they do not currently have 30% BEE ownership.

good work as usually DXL.

Thanks for keeping us informed on the scams and collusions of the Mobile Operators.

I still fail to see how this is a scam or a collusion by any of the Mobile Operators?.. or at least how the story points to such..

All the story says is that ICASA have dropped the ownership aspect of the auctions.
