Vodacom iMessage activation

Using Vodacom VoWifi I can't get iMessage activated. Obviously there is no normal cellular roaming on this prepaid sim otherwise I would have used that, and I am not currently in South Africa.

Cell C activates without issue using VoWifi in the same device.

Can anyone offer any advice?

ok looks like my number cannot send international SMS at all. Receiving to/from SA numbers is fine but I cannot send anything to my Hong Kong number.

This seems to be by design on how Vodacom does VoLTE and VoWifi, you cannot send international SMS (from an SA number to an international one) and have these services active at the same time.

Extremely weird, and extremely disappointing.

Yup. Confirmed with one of the Vodacom support guys as well they don't support VoWifi and sending international SMS at the same time.

This is such a fundamental fail in the Vodacom system and they don't make it visible anywhere.

Anyways this is still a problem. While Jannie did contact me to ask about this, nothing ever happened and never got any further feedback from the people he asked me to contact.
