Just FYI for those people who are on prepaid - the inactivity rule has been changed from 215 days to 185 days. Vodacom didn't inform me about the changes, and now one of my numbers has been recycled.

Was there no general public message on this either?

Any idea what they consider to be inactivity?

None to my knowledge, and the support staff can't point me to one either... I've escalated it, so let's see what they say.

This was what was published from before; but I don't see any new link:
What is the Prepaid Inactivity Rule?
The Inactivity Rule applies to all Prepaid packages.

A Prepaid SIM Card must be active in order to remain active on the network.

When an MSISDN has been inactive for a period of 215 consecutive days, that number will be deleted.

Activity is defined as:

Make or receiving calls, SMSs, MMSs, USSD, etc
This includes calls to voicemail (121) and the recharge service (100)
Activity excludes:

Calls to 111, 114, 1082, 199, 155, 112
Vodacom Prepaid customers will be monitored continuously. Customers who have been inactive for a period of 208 days will be placed in Admin lock status for an additional 7 days. During this time the customer will not be able to recharge, make or receive calls or send SMSs

At the end of the Admin Lock period the number will be deleted.

While the MSISDN is in Admin Lock the customer can request to have the SIM unlocked by calling customer care.
