Vodacom Incompetence

no, there is a definite no OBF clause on iphones, lemme see if i can find the document

Well, the I am being screwed over even more by Vodacom. As I definitely signed a doc stating that on it. Loks like a big circus to me

ocleroux, don't u work for vodacom?
because as i have experienced, vodacom will not OBF an iphone, u can have it for 20 minutes and take it back and they will not OBF it

Confirmed it with the Vodacare that I use for my repairs.....we are not to do OBF on the Iphone. It is to be booked in as a normal repair.

So what does this mean for me then? I thought you said they ordered a new one?

So Vodacom is like, we offer you an OBF except where we dont.

I said they are exchanging it. I can not see if it is a sealed unit or not. Should you want to confirm with them, you may do so on 0821944. Have your job number ready for the operator please. It is a free call from your Vodacom sim.

Ok, so what is a "swop out basis"???

swap out basis with the iphone means, send current handset away to be evaluated, once done, receive swap out handset from apple. vodacom pretty much wash their hands with dealing with the iphone, you certainly wont get one in a box from the back of the store

Thanx

Most Vodacom shops will not exchange the phone immediately as we can not be sure that user damage is not involved.
My sister extended ("upgraded" in Vodacomspeak) her contract some time ago. As part of the deal she got an iPhone. The iPhone started up OK, then died. It wouldn't come alive even with the charger connected. It took some serious verbal effort to get the shop to replace the iPhone, but it was done after she phoned American Express to cancel the credit card transaction. Oh, did I mention that all of this happened while she was still in the store?

Vodacom is handing down policies from Apple. The Iphone 4 for example also only carries 1 year warranty...not two years like the other phones. Vodacare is not allowed to repair Iphones themselves either. Apple does not allow it. That is why if you drop the phone and the screen cracks...we quote you on the replacement price for the phone as Vodacare may not repair it. It sucks..but that is how it is.

Ok I phoned em. They said the phone is being replaced, but now I have to wait another 3 days for quality inspection. My f**, this is never going to end, cause everytime I phone someone adds another 2-3 days on my waiting period. Think by December I will still be waiting. All I'm saying is good luck to anyone having to go through this whole OBF thing, its ridiculous

Thats awesome. Thats gotta be one of the great things about credit cards - you cancel the transaction and the vendor has to beg for their money back. How did we get so lucky that major corporations such as financial institutions, look after our interests by allowing us to cancel fraudulent or otherwise dodgy transactions?

I've used the same avenue a few times - and it is really awesome!
