Hi all,

I am extremely frustrated and posting on every medium I can until I can get this resolved (hopefully a Vodacom person can help me out)

I was retrenched in March 2020. I contacted Vodacom in April to advise them of this and that I would struggle to pay the contract.
I was told that they could only make arrangements after a debit order failed (They charge you for this).

I have been trying every month to get them to assist me, but they promise to call me back and never do.

Now today I had some money come into my account (same day as VC's debit order) and they have taken over R3000!

I have tried to cancel the debit order, but FNB (in their equal incompetence) require all sorts of documents to cancel.

Is there someone from Vodacom who can assist me?

Craig

Strongs for the retrenchment ;)
Do you possibly have retrenchment cover somewhere?
Some bank accounts, loans, policies and contracts offer retrenchment cover.
Make sure if your VC contract contains it.
It will settle your debt completely.

Thanks, will try. These a holes are adamant that it is my fault, despite me contacting them before the bounced debit orders and being advised to let them bounce...

I would be more pissed off with FNB. Cancelling a debit order should merely require your instruction. It's your money to do with as YOU want irrespective of debit orders. If a debit is cancelled, that is between you and the business the debit order is for. Has fckall to do with the bank.

Sounds logical but that is not how it works. At least at Capitec and I would think at other banks. Here is what Capitec says:

Only the party you signed the agreement with can cancel the debit order

With crappy Standard Bank that is how it works. You tell them to reverse it, and they do. The company can then try their luck again, to which you reverse it again. They will then contact you at which point you tell them to get fcked (if you don't owe them any money)

The problem is that on average between 10% an 12% of all debit orders nationally are disputed every month - mostly because people don't have the money to pay for what they're contractually bound to pay. From a company perspective this means that the CFO can see the money in the account but then (up to) 45 days later that money is suddenly reversed. Imagine trying to manage your cashflow!

This (and a few other reasons) is why the SARB/PASA implemented DebiCheck.

I had a issue with Vodacom taking the debit order then 5 days later they pay it back into my account, after a huge fight and having to go into a shop I got them to remove the DO and I EFT them every month
