Ok I just felt that I needed to get this off my chest....
When I signed my new cell phone contract beginning of this year they asked me if I would like to insure my cellphone, I have always been hesitant of these type of things because cellphones depreciate in value and eventually you paying R5000 insurance for a phone that is worth nothing.
I was told how ever that no matter how the phone breaks or if it is stolen it will be replaced, and if the phone I had is discontinued that an equivalent model will be provided. So i thought in the line of work I am in I usually destroy a phone in a year.... why the hell not.
Fast forward to 3 weeks ago and i destroyed my phone, completely shattered and there is no way that it could ever be repaired (thank goodness i sync my phone often so not too much was lost)
I take the phone in and firstly have to explain about 6 times that no i dont want to repair the phone, it is insured by vodacom i want to CLAIM. Eventually I get through to someone that understands, the phone is put in a plastic packet, I am given a piece of paper and told that in 2-3 working days the claim should go through and I can go pick up a new phone.
So today, after waiting a week and a half, I phone vodacom to find out what is happening and can I please come get my phone or at least get a temp phone as I use my phone as a modem when i travel. So what do they tell me.... Vodacom are still trying to fix the phone up in Jburg... WTF!!!!!!!
I am so lost for words (even though i managed to write all this
) I eventually managed to speak to one of the tech support guys that said that they are not sure why it is still there and that the phone was declared broken and beyond repair.
I just received a call where I was told that they will hopefully receive my broken phone back from Jburg today or tomorrow and then they can start processing my claim!!!! Wow i wonder if anyone at vodacom has even read their own site http://www.vodacom.co.za/services/vodasure.jsp, because it is all a load of crap.
My advice to all is that R79 is not worth it, I would have rather enjoyed an extra 8 drafts of beer every month than have to deal with this sort of service.
