Would the vodacom internet starter pack modem take a cell c sim ?

check your modem specs on the net, see if it can handle 900mhz.
Then it can.
If there is no cell c tower near you then no use doing what you hope to do.

Yes you can, depends on which usb modem you have though. Thats what I'm using right now

I am using mine with a 8ta sim card, roaming on MTN. No problems. IThe vodafone software does not support any other sim cards. Uninstall the software, but not the modem driver, and setup your internet connection as a normal dial-up network.

Bah didn't even think of that. Not like I use the functions in the VMB software although I do use it to backup SMSs.

Won't work with the Vodacom Mobile Broadband software. The easiest workaround if you want some control over your connection rather than just the barebones connection you'll get through Windows' internet access icon (assuming you have preinstalled the modem driver as mentioned above) is to download ginggs' excellent little MDMA, whose link you will find elsewhere in this forum.
