Hey guys,
So Vodacom is currently surveying our complex in Fourways for FTTH connectivity. They are looking for 40% interest (as in signed 2 year contracts) before they will go ahead with the plans to wire the complex.
I have no doubt that their fibre backbone will be excellent, and vastly superior to Telkoms saturated ADSL exchanges. The offering looks great, lots of freebies included, however it only makes financial sense to me to sign up for a 100Mb / 200Gb package if it is a real replacement for DSTV.
They mention Vodacom set top box, IPTV, streaming etc several times, but no one seems to have any solid details on this. Who is the content provider? Someone like Netflix? Will the content be restricted for our region, or would we get the same latest shows as the states? Neither Vodacom, or FibreConnect seem to have any answers on this one.
I don't see how anyone would sign a 2 year contract for an included streaming service they know nothing about.
Has anyone on the forum been wired with Vodacom FFTH + IPTV, that could tell us what the streaming content bouquet is like please?
Thanks guys!
