Vodacom have HUGE billboards advertising LTE. Nice.

I got an S4mini with LTE and set it to use LTE whenever/wherever the network support it.

You call me. In your ear my phone rings 3 times but only after the 3rd ring does my phone START to ring physically. By this time you are concluding that I'm not going to answer and you cancel the call. I lose calls, friends, family and clients complain they can not reach me. What was the point of GSM technology again? Gee, I forget so easily these days....

Logged a report with Vodacom. Amazingly got a reply:

DEACTIVATE LTE ON YOUR PHONE!!

As if its my phone's fault. Tried it, sure enough, "problem solved"

So now I ask: Is "LTE" not a farce then?

I was actually at vodaworld today and thought i would see if i could get 4G/LTE on my IPhone 5 considering i normally don't get 4G/LTE in my areas for some reason and it uses up battery so i leave it off.

What do you know i can't get 4G/LTE at Vodaworld.
they can't even get it right at their own offices.

I personally think they are advertising to get customers for a system that really does not work or really benefit the actual idea of making a phone call

At the present time IMO LTE is a farce for all service providers because there is only +- 5% coverage and pretenses given that you can get huge speeds etc but the chances of you being in a signal area is 5% (5% being thumb suck and just descriptive of the wool that is being pulled over eyes)
