Vodacom - Mapping Services on iPhone 5S eating all mobile data

Hi.
I'm currently on the Vodacom network using an iPhone 5S and since the latest iOS update, the Mapping Services running in the background has been eating all mobile data irrespective of whether I'm connected to Wifi or not.
I've read other forums and noticed many users experiencing the same problem.

Has there been any feedback or resolution from the networks or Apple regarding this problem?

why would it be a network problem if its using data over wifi as well ?

It's a network problem because mobile data is being used by Mapping Services even when the device is connected to a Wifi network.
