If you have knowledgeable people cutting cables for maximum disruption, it's amazing how much damage you can cause.

Vodacom is cool, Telskum not cool
Vodacom3G can you confirm that the cable cut has caused the Vodacom network to also go down.

vodacom3g: Just out of curiosity, what is the cheapest package offering on vodacom for hsdpa card on contract? And do you know if the tower (samrand-2) north of midrand has been hsdpa upgrade? Plus...if i get the contract and hsdpa sucks, can i get a full refund?

Sections of the network around the country have been affected by the problems at Telkom, especially on Friday. Some of these are still ongoing.

The network is designed to try and cater for these situations, so in many areas you would still get a service but at a reduced capacity.

all i know is i have NEVER EVER in my life known Vodacom to go down....this month has been a first for me. i really hope Vodacom can realise how shocking that is, and maybe should try reduce its dependence on Telkom infrastructure? for the cables to be sabotaged in the first place is shocking. Telkom should get it's act together and heads SHOULD roll.

This is actually not the first time Vodacom was badly affected.

1) Vodacom had the problem where everyone I knew was unable to use their phones, the phone just didnt want to logon to the network. This was end March. (Duration: 6 hours before all phones were reconnected)

2) 1 week later, the same thing happened but only to the prepaid customers on 076 (see the topic I made)

3) Then the 3G network started giving speed problems a week after that

4) Latest we have the network going down in some areas due to Telkom.

This is all in a space of 30 Days
