Hi all,

Hope everyone is having a great hump day...quick question please, has anyone used the Vodacom onlince chat service from their website? The reason I ask is, because, after holding on for 15 minutes for someone to answer, I thought I would give it a try for a faster response(wishful thinking) and absolutely no response...nothing at all, nothing to say that you in a queue or even if the dumb thing is working....

I have a billing query and I can just see this is going to be frustrating to sort out...:(

I found the only way to deal with vodacom on some days is to set up your call to them, put the phone onto speakerphone or plug in headphones then just carry on with your day till you get a response.

Some days they are very efficient, others they have system issues or staff issues.

Their online chat doesn't work... Tried it a couple times myself.

If you really want a response same or next day... Facebook. Their call centre is pathetic, got hung up on after listening to them yell at each other for a few seconds and got disconnected after going through a million options more than once.

Billing issues are not attended to. I've been trying to get mine investigated for a month now, still no solution. Be prepared to hear it's "pending" and "someone will contact you today" a dozen times.

Today might be my lucky day, but they actually called me back after I sent them a mail sharing my thoughts about their service and it looks like they have sorted out my issue, well its been "processed", so will see in 48 hours. But they promised to call me back once done and have confirmed our conversation over email and it was not a copy and paste job from a handbook.

I am so relieved, was preparing for the worst and its upgrade month :)

I was on the chat now about their offer for R599 fibre deal. The agent was quick to engage the chat but said I should call sales and disconnected the chat. really. Why have a chat function if you not willing to chat? This is a joke.

Apparently they working on the chat service to make it more functional and user friendly. The consultant I spoke to, said it is extremely busy and its luck of the draw whether you get assisted or not as there is no queue system or notification to the user as to what is happening.

Don't understand why they just don't disable it and fix all the issues which they clearly aware of instead of frustrating customers...

I've only had good experiences with the chat function. Someone has always answered and has been able to deal with my query. Usually adding or removing a data bundle when the site/app isn't working for some unknown reason.

...disconnected the chat...

Telkom's is quite fun.

I started a chat to find out about instructions to cancel an account. And they sent me a whole paragraph of what I must do. Then disconnected while I was retyping the addresses he gave (can't copy paste the text) and the whole window refreshed.

All for nothing!

I've used the Vodacom chat support function a few times and an operator connected quite quickly to assist. I've also phoned the call centre a few times and after you get through the twister maze of 1-9 options to select, the call was answered almost instantly by a consultant. They don't always have a lot of knowledge to assist with the query though but that is another matter :D
