Vodacom Play Everyday Competition

Are you registered on Vodacom.co.za site and can log in using a pc browser? Well I take it you have to be registered in order to play the game.

Anyway, log on to the website via a pc, once you're in your account, click on manage my account, then click on 'add and manage numbers' to add another number.

If it's in a device and can receive sms, they will send a otp. If it's not in a device I think you will need the number that's physically printed on the sim.

Worked like a charm - thanks, now I have 6 winning chances...

Welcome. My contract sim gives me a free extra play so i have 2 plays on the contract, the prepaid does not. Not sure why.

Ah man really hope not today. I got on the bandwagon quite late and have to say, really appreciating the data

If it ends today, I netted 13.25GB of data. I won nothing but data. It has been incredibly helpful over the holidays while being away etc and not around wifi as much.

It definitely said 31 January 2017 (well the page I quoted had that at the bottom - and now has the new date, I didn't check the T&C page) when I loaded the page earlier, must've been changed after. Cool, looks like it carries on then. Bonus.
Now if I could get something better than a wallpaper, discount on stuff I don't want in the slightest, millionaires entries or just try again ... that would be cool.

Yes, I saw it said January at the bottom earlier today, it has changed now indeed

Tried it and got prizes on both numbers. Second try today, nothing.

BUT I have a question.

How do the data wins work? VC says you will be notified when the win will be activated and then you need to use it within x days.

But I have existing packages. Does my existing package usage stop until I work off the prize or until it expires and then data usage starts counting down again on my package?

VC cannot even introduce a FIFO process into their standard carry over contracts, yet they can implement this competition! I am very suspicious that we all getting nothing out of the deal.

I spent some time yesterday trying to get an answer out of Vodacom. The questions were:

(1) How does a user know that his normal data usage is suspended and that the "prize" data allocation is counted down first before expiry?
(2) What will a user see on his bill regarding the allocation? Will a user see the allocation logged separately, and the count down, and then the expiry before normal data usage gets used again?

As usual with any of these sorts of questions one gets the same mumbo Jumbo about reading the T's & C's followed by verbal assurances that the system will use the allocated prize data first. Do I trust VC? The answer is a resounding NO simply because of their failure to be able to provide me with a straight answer to the above questions!

The next step is now to log an official complaint with VC, followed up afterwards with one to the CPA and to ICASA!

And then it occurred to me that IF VC is able to implement competitions like this then the technical tools exist to ensure carry over data not used could also be counted down first! Guess what that answer was?

Words to the effect that the carry over data system has been setup to only access the carry over data AFTER expiry of the current allowance and cannot be changed!

Why then should we take VCs word for being able to ensure competition prize data is counted off first??

Just not on VC, your words have a very very hollow ring to them!

I use the Vodacom App to check my balances and each of the data bundles I've won reflect separately and I can see which are being used and when they expire. My experience has been that the bundles I won are being used first before my monthly bundle allocation.

Thank you, will check the My Vodacom App. Yesterday when I did all these checks none of the so-called prize allocations showed separately. I expected them to show under the once-off balances but nothing showed up, hence my call to VC. Just once again demonstrates how poor the training is of call centre personnel.

i'm the same.

Well well, it seems posting on the forum kicks butts! My issues were not with the app, but with the manner in which my upgrade was handled at the VC shop!. All fixed now, the app shows the once off balances correctly now after some tweaking to my account details.

Now for the FIFO issue !

Edit: 2017-02-03 Now that my account is set up properly, the App seems to report data usage very well. Having "won" ?:erm: 1 x 100 MB and 2 x 50 MB prizes with different expiry dates, at different times, the App switches over to count down the package with the earliest expiry data, before counting down on the others again.

Which just reinforces the point that there are NO technical issues preventing Vodacom from using the same technology to count down on carry overs first.

So come on Vodacom, just implement it, it is the right thing to do for your customer base!

I've got a couple of vouchers(from edgars, jet, cna, flook, JBL BT40, red square and edgars active) I'm probably not gonna use, so if anyone is interested PM me.

So anyone won anything except data bundles lately?

Just shows you they are giving away something they should not be charging for in the first place!
