Vodacom Prepaid Email Address

I recently changed internet service providers from Vodacom Mobile to another, however in order to retain my Vodacom email address I had them convert my expired contract to a prepaid SIM, and everything has gone relatively smoothly.

Does anyone know what are Vodacom's rules for keeping this email address valid ? i.e Do I need to top up with data every so often, do I need to make a chargeable call or send an sms occasionally (problem - sim is in a data only modem). Is it just enough that the email address is active sending and receiving mail ? Can I just use it forever and do none of the above (doesn't sound likely).

Have searched everywhere possible and don't have the strength to ask the VC call centre.

OK Thanks for the quick reply ! I hear you on Gmail :), that is my plan 'B' except that for the last 100 years or so, my VC email is the only one I ever had - don't know where to begin advising everybody that matters of the change!
 
+1 for Gmail.

The good thing is that you can setup your VC email on Gmail so that you have one "inbox" and you just reply using your gmail address, eventually all your contacts will reply to you on your gmail address.


That's how i dealt with an old mweb address that i had

Solution: Create an gmail.com account. Forward vodamail emails to it. For each email you get sent to that address, update to the gmail.com one. Within a couple of months it will be like you never had the vodamail address and everything will not require vodamail. Plus benefits of a 21 century email address.

Just do it. The sooner you start, the better.
 
With SMS notifications as a useful security feature, which email client for Android works the best for users and has anyone the settings for outgoing email?
